I was admitted last night! So thrilled!!! I'm so excited to become a Wolverine.
My friend was also admitted, and we were discussing the enrollment deposit and housing. She seems to think that the earlier you pay the enrollment deposit and apply for housing, the better housing you will get. Is this true? I'm not in a position to pay the enrollment deposit without getting a fin aid offer, although we're expecting to get a decent package from UM. There are only two schools I feel I have a decent shot at that I would even give consideration to attending besides UM, they are Cornell and Vassar.
So, i guess my question is if it's true that you're more likely to get the housing you request if you pay the enrollment deposit and apply immediately. Also, if you do that before getting a fin aid package, would that make the University more likely to slight you in your financial aid package (kind of makes sense)?

Nope, you can’t even apply for housing until early or mid April, or sometime around there. And, when you apply you get entered into a lottery for the order that they assign housing.

Okay, thank you for that info. That’s very relieving.
