Enrollment Deposit and Housing

The University of Michigan is, by far, my number one school. I am in state, so I am pretty sure it will be within a reasonable range as far as cost is concerned, but I still have to wait until the financial aid reports are released before I make my ultimate decision. Should I submit my deposit now, or wait until the financial stuff is known? Will I likely get a worse housing assignment if I wait until later to submit the deposit? Also, would I be able to get my $200 refunded if I submit it now, and it turns out that I don't end up going to UM?

Thanks,
Ben

I'm not sure about housing, since I live off campus. It is my understanding though that the deposit is "non-refundable", if you don't end up going there you forfeit the money.

As for financial aid, since you are in state aid is likely to be better than if you weren't. Also, if you are looking for need based aid and have a lower EFC I've found them to be very generous.

To my knowledge, everyone who submits the $200 by May 10 is at an equal level.
The $ 200 is non refundable.

I don't "know" the answer but from from this site:
UM Undergraduate Housing - How to Apply for Undergraduate Housing

The Fine Print
The Enrollment Deposit is nonrefundable from the time it is submitted. Failure to enroll for the admitted term will result in forfeiture of the $200 deposit.

and

"Incoming freshmen apply for housing online through an application that is available to admitted students who have paid their enrollment deposit request (EDR) or had it offically waived by May 1. Housing assignment priority is not based on deposit date."

thanks mhc48, that's exactly what I was looking for. It was right in front of my face...
