Hi. I just had my first enrollment appointment and I encountered an error saying “Message: You have already taken this class. You have now exceeded the repeatable limit for this class. Verify that this class will apply toward your course of study.” This was for introductory bio course and I am entering as a freshman who got a 5 on AP exam for biology. Has anyone who retook intro courses despite AP scores encountered this problem before? How should I “Verify that this class will apply toward your course of study”?
@Astantine Haven’t heard of that (though I am hearing complaints about how AP credits are being received and handled this year), but I do not advise that you retake that course. Not very useful and Biology 240 (you’d just take it and 141-L) will introduce new topics and be just as easy on your GPA if that is what you are concerned about. Even the pHMO is recommending the latter as an alternative and it is rare that they would recommend a “higher” (not really true for 240, though it is smaller and less based on memorization) level course even when a student has AP credit. The course (240) obviously has a track record as being beneficial for them to recommend it to freshmen. Biology 142 is the class that you may need a refresher with as it may cover a lot bacterial and experimental genetics than covered in AP.
