<p>For those lucky students who get free tuition due to a scholarship, will this deposit be refunded, or can you transfer it over to use toward housing, meal plan, course and activity fees?</p>
<p>And I’m guessing if you do not attend Auburn, you lose the 200 bucks. That’s what nonrefundable means, right?</p>

The deposit is applied to tuition and any orientation fees.
The $200 tuition deposit is the first step regarding housing. For accepted students, Auburn mentions “after we receive your $200 tuition deposit, youll receive more information which will include how to apply for University Housing.”</p>

<p>The $200 deposit will not be refunded, but will be automatically applied to the student’s account as other charges (meal plan, Camp War Eagle, housing, etc) hit the account. Our first e-bill was for zero dollars, and included charges (100+50+50) for the family to attend Camp War Eagle (student and 2 parents), and the $200 tuition credit. So basically, the deposit is a pre-payment for anything that the student is charged, not just tuition.</p>
<p>Thanks, Carp, for that clarification. I figured there would be other expenses to come up, and were hoping that extra 200 could go to those, rather than having a 200 dollar credit just floating around out there. </p>

<p>No, you’re not committed to attending. You just lose the 200 deposit if you end up going somewhere else. Be sure to inform Auburn if you decide to attend another school, so someone on waitlist can have a chance for admittance.</p>
<p>In our experience (2 kids at Auburn), submitting the housing deposit in early to mid-January was safe. Both kids were garanteed housing at that time. We were told that typically, housing doesn’t go to wait-list status until February. Of course, each year could be different, so do what you think is best. We sent in the tuition deposit end of December for both, and applied for housing by mid January. There was approximately a 2 week wait between the two, because they send you a password or login after receiving the tuition deposit that is necessary to login to the housing deposit page.</p>
<p>Thanks, carpma. Really nervous about housing at Auburn. No housing is a deal breaker, no matter the school. </p>
<p>We will definitely let Auburn know ASAP if won’t attend. Very grateful for the acceptance, and not playing a numbers game with schools. Just have to wait until spring to hear from top choice, and even then, don’t know if they’ll give us enough money for son to attend. Auburn would be a great “second choice”.</p>
