Enter UCSD as a freshman or transfer?

I have been admitted into UCSD as an upcoming freshman and while many are pushing me towards going there, I wonder if I would benefit more attending a csu or community college and just transferring after completing my GEs. This would be benefit me financially, and I’m also quite unsure if I’m ready to leave my hometown yet.

My concerns lie in the hassle of reapplying as well as the worry that I won’t get admitted twice. I’m a typically bright student, with mostly A’s and 11 honors/AP classes throughout my high school career. My other concern is that GEs won’t even take so long due to AP credit (I’ve passed 3 tests in Junior year and am pretty sure I’ll pass the three I have this year), so would it be a lot easier to just enter UCSD now?

your concerns about gaining re-admission are valid. If it won’t be too much of a financial burden, I’d suggest you head straight there. Other considerations are - being at the same school for 4 years gives you better access to lab work, internships, study abroad programs, clubs, fraternities, etc.

If you can’t afford it, there are many other educational paths that can lead to a happy and fulfilled life.

Good luck

Agreed^ unless you have a financial concern, you might as well go through the GEs at SD and focus on career building opportunities instead of applying for readmission
