Entertainment/Tourism Management - Worth getting?

I plan on going to California State University Fullerton because they have a Entertainment/Tourism Management concentration for Business Administration.

My question is: Do you think this is a worthy concentration to go to college, specifically this University, for? Also while minoring or double majoring in radio-television-film?

Other schools I'm interested, but don't have this concentration or video production classes: UC Irvine, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Long Beach.

The reason I ask is because Fullerton is a commuter campus and I don't know if it's worth sacrificing going to a University know one seems to know about (though apparently the business program is very good) when I could get the full college experience at other schools (Cal Poly, Long Beach, Irvine).

check out the actual job requirements/qualifications/education required for the job you want. It sounds to me as though many degrees in business could qualify one to work in tourism and entertainment; so the specific specialization may not be necessary. I don’t think it’s much of a stretch to assume that a regular, well rounded B.Admin or B.Comm couldn’t fill the same role.

I am not an expert in this, but I doubt that these jobs will be only looking for someone with a specific specialization in tourism and entertainment.

It might be better to do a traditional business degree so you’ll be qualified for a variety of jobs and still have a good chance at getting in on the tourism and entertainment industry. But again, im not an expert at this: keep investigating, and check out the specific education requirements for the jobs you want. Try even talking with people in the industry.

I think the main reason this program excels for those who want jobs in the industry is because its advisory board/professors are from the industry (one board adviser is a VP at Paramount for example), and so they can give good internships and advise, I suppose.

Here are two videos of the specific program:

Other plus is that they just built a very sexy business building, and it’s the largest business school in California I think.

Bad thing, like I said before, is the commuter status. Though it is cheaper than going to say, Berkley.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this school/concentration? (seems to be kind of a “management” concentration with an emphasis on media-based businesses)

Hello 0zzy I know it’s been like 5 years since you posted this, but I was wondering if you ended up pursing the entertainment and tourism in business administration at CSUF? It’s because I will soon have to be turning in my college applications and I was hoping to major in that at CSUF too. Since there’s not really any reviews about that major I don’t really have a clear picture of what can come from that major and if it’s even worth it. I hope you’re able to reply to my comment very soon. Thank you!
