environmental science/studies

To make a long story short, I thought I wanted to do environmental engineering, but now I just want to do environmental science. (especially since in most of the schools it would be a division of civil engineering)

Since then I've been sort of re-researching schools. A lot of the ones I'm coming across now are LACs and definitly not as big as the research universities and I'm liking that. A lot of them also have fairly decently sized outdoor programs which I'm finding very appealing.

So...are there any colleges that are particularly known for their environmental science/studies department?
