What are some good schools, including more than just super competitve Ivy-League and types, to study some of the various parts of environmental studies, including good research opportunites?

I'd like to know too...I was just about to post a message just like this when
I saw this one!

Well are you more interested in environmental studies, or environmental science? That will automatically eliminate or add some schools right there (not every school offers both). I'm actually going to major in enviro studies, so most of these schools I looked at at one point or another, and many of them aren't ivy-league types (I actually made it a point to avoid that atmosphere) and consequently I ended up with a lot of LACs and smaller schools. With that said, a lot of the larger schools will also offer an environmental studies/science program.

Oberlin (where I'm now attending)
Beloit (more emphasis on geology)
UVM (excellent environmental school)
College of the Atlantic (the school almost revolves around it)
UCSC
Berkeley
Prescott College (slightly unconventional, but it's main purpose is environmental studies)
UWashington
Whitman

So that's a wide range and variety of schools right there. Also, since you're interested in research opportunities, check to see if a school has some sort of research facility off-campus (UVM has something on the lake, Stanford has the Hopkins campus in Monterey, UCSD has a loose affiliation with Scripps, Lawrence has something a couple hours on a lake, etc.)
