EOP/HEOP, and other Opportunity Programs

can you get into the EOP program with low income, low SAT, ACT and SAT subject test but high ranking and GPA?

Ok. You seem to have answers and I believe what I’ve read so far. This is my specific situation. I really want to get into cornell university. I am an african american male and I attend a specialized high school in new york city. “High school for math, science, and engineering @CCNY,” which is similar to Stuyvesant or bronx science. (My school is new so I compare it to renown specialized high schools) I am a junior currently and I am terrified when it comes to college. I have a not too great GPA (about 2.5) which is like the bottom 25 percent of my class. I am prepping for the SATs and I’ve been doing pretty well on them. I had a 1600 on the first practice and a 1770 on the second practice out of 5 practice tests, so I think I’m going to do pretty well on the SAT. (My goal is to get at least 2000) The problem is, I am finantially disadvantaged, and from what I’ve been reading, I don’t know if I will be H/EOP eligible. My average gross income is $15000 a year for a 4 family household. Do you know if I would be eligible? I just need clarification. Btw, I am attending Cornell’s Summer College(I have this opportunity because of the scholarships and an afterschool program which pays the tuition) this summer and I want to know if that could help my chances of getting into the university. And I currently have some college credit because my school offers college credit for some classes such as astronomy.

Depending on the school you apply to, the academic requirements will be different. As far as financial eligibility, you can look at this table.
[AOP/HEOP - Union College](http://www.union.edu/Resources/Academic/AOP/requirement.php)
The financial requirements do not change by school.

If I apply for H/EOP is taking the SAT 2’s required?

Thanks for this post. I still have a question. For HEOP at Cornell, Columbia etc, do we need to take the SAT2’s as well for the admission process even if we are applying for these special programs?

???

I got 2020 on my SATS, have a 3.73 unweighted gpa, 3.89 weighted, 7 APs, and ALOT of ECs. I also cant afford to pay more than 5000 a year for college. I got into hamilton through HEOP.

My main issue is that I don’t want to be treated like i’m “educationally disadvantaged” just because my family isn’t rich.

So you are saying you don’t want the aid? Because that’s how you are being treated, as if you need aid. If you don’t you can reject the offer, but that doesn’t seem very smart. No one else will know about the details of your aid package. If I were you I would graciously take the funds no matter what guise it comes in and not have an attitude about it.
