Eraserhead

First off, has anyone actually seen this movie? It's kind of obscure.
Anyway, the film is the subject of fierce debate over its intended meaning- much like the meaning of life (yes, it is that deep). One scene, in particular has been giving me a hard time in interpreting its metaphorical undertones. I'll give you the background:

Henry is this guy living in a dystopian landscape amid the reckage of urban decay and the constant humming of machines. He receives a dinner invitation from a girlfriend whom he hasn't seen in a while (and who he thought had broken ties with him). He accepts the invitation and arrives at her parents' house for dinner that night. [This is around where the scene is]. Soon he finds out she had just conceived a mutated, reptilian-like baby after an extremely short pregnancy. It turns out to be his as well and he is obligated to marry her.

Here's the link to the scene in which he is asked to cut the dinner meat. I have no idea what it means and I probably don't want to. Tell me if you have any thoughts:

Good luck with that

GREAT MOVIE. David Lynch is a god.

ERASERHEAD is a must-see. I bought my DVD copy direct from DavidLynch.com when the site first went up.

The story behind the film is pretty cool, too. Lynch made it for around $20,000 over a period of six or seven years, while he worked full-time at a key-makers booth. Apparently he was pretty depressed!

yeah, I also heard that near the end of filming, Lynch had to get a paper route to fund the thing.
