ERC- Roosevelt

hey so im thinking about transfering and i got in roosevelt college. it was my first choice because i thought the modern world ideology they have pretty interesting, but after doing some research im getting completely turned off. can any of you that are in this college let me know what to expect? im a communication major

bump, I got accepted as a transfer for electrical engineering into ERC. It was my fifth choice. Can anyone let me know how MMW is for transfers. I know they have a separate MMW 4T specifically for transfers, but I was wondering how intensive the writing is in MMW4t, MMW 5, and MMW 6. As an engineer major, I know I am going to be spending a lot of time studying for those classes and I really hate thinking that I’m also going to have these pesky writing courses.

Apparently, I will also have to take 2 regional specialization courses. What are those like?

The writing in MMW4, 5 and 6 is one 8-10 page RESEARCH paper due at the end of the quarter (you need at least 6 sources, one of them a journal article and one of them a primary source). Additionally, there is a short 3-5 page paper due Week 3 to basically let the TA know what your topic is and involves some brief research, and then a 3-4 page prospectus due Week 6 where you outline your research question, thesis, counter argument, etc. It’s sort of a pain because they have a very specific outline that you use to write it and you have to make photocopies of every single page out of every source you use and attach it to each writing assignment.

Regional specialization is like ethnic studies or history or political science located in a specific area of the globe. Both of your regional spec need to come from the same area. There is a list of courses that you can take to fulfill this requirement on the ERC GE website (you can google it).
