Essay about discoveries

My prompt was something about people exploring new stuff to make great discoveries. I was baffled and I didn't prepare any such examples. So I my thesis was something like this:

People make great discoveries about their characters when they stretch and challenge themselves to do things no one thought could be done.

Is it off topic? I hope we didn't have to speak of literal discoveries (as those in science).

Please, guys :(

If the prompt just said “discoveries,” your thesis is fine.

It looks fine as long as it was about discoveries and challenges.

Thanks :)

I still think I got an 8. Stupid time!

If this is your first time taking the SAT, you’ll probably be surprised at the essay score you get. Seriously, the first time I took the test, I got an 11, and I expected a 6 or 7 - my essay was absolutely terrible and incoherent. There is still hope. :)

haha i agree, i got a 9 last time, and my last two paragraphs were like a combined 5 sentences.
