Essay about semester abroad

Prompt: The Honors Program encourages students to experience life in another country. If you were to study abroad for a month or a semester, what country would you prefer to visit and what would you hope to learn from your experiences in another culture?

Here's the deal: I have two essays written about this topic, but I'm not sure which one I should use. One of them is about how I would like to spend some time in an African or Asian country to experience being a minority and to learn a language completely different than the langauges I speak (English, German, French). But since I am an International Student (American citizen applying from Germany), studying in the States is like studying abroad for me, so the other one is about what I'd like to learn from living in America (learn more about my American heritage, experience American way of life so that I can make a decision on where I want to spend the rest of my life, Europe or America)

Opinions? Which one should I use?

bump!!!

bump! some advice please? i’d like to send in my application to this college (simmons) this weekend

My two cents… I’d say use the first essay. I’m also an American citizen living abroad (France for me) and I’m now taking a gap year in China before college. I don’t think writing about how it will feel living in the States is strong enough…
