Essay concerns

So......for those of you who got 11s or 12s on your essays, did you use a bunch of academic examples such as novels, people, etc or make up stuff? do personal examples have equal weight as literary examples? cause ive been using literary and historic examples for the past 2 SATs and im stuck at a 8. Ive seen very little essays where personal examples have gotten a 12 so im wondering if i should give this a shot on the june SAT

I’ve got similar questions about the essay! Also was wondering if there was a “minimum” number of examples the readers look for? My test prep teacher said to stick to two solid examples, but I’ve also heard having 3 is better, even if they aren’t quite as well developed. Can anyone help? Thank you :)

Normally I allude to novels and historical events. But the March SAT question was ridiculous so I ended up writing about Jersey shore and True Life and managed to pull of an 8/12.
On practice tests I normally allude to novels.
