Essay ideas...

It's been 3 weeks since I saw the topics and I've been thinking, but still haven't found a really solid topic.

At first for the "challenged a belief or idea" one I thought religion, since my religion has changed, but I felt it's just too risky, not worth it.

The environment one, I thought generally a "problem solving" environment, but I think it's still to general, granted I can make it personal and I could say some stuff I've done, like I did research this summer independent of a university because I found no one to take us,also , I program stochastic stock models in my free time, and other stuff. I'm scared it will make me sound too introverted though. Any opinions or advice?

This is so frustrating, I have no inspirational stories or anything, all my failures are small. I am a hard worker, I feel I am an individual, as few teenagers would take pleasure out of my endeavors(although probably most of those applying to the same schools as me would), but I really don't know how to put this into my essay, and get it to fit into an essay. My life is better summarized by small stories, rather than any defining moments.

bump…

If researching and programming is your thing, write about it! Colleges don’t want the perfect essay topic, they want an essay that tells them something about you and your passions.

I’m a little concerned it will make me sound too introverted, granted that may be somewhat accurate, but I wouldn’t want one of my weaknesses to show through that topic. Another concern is that it may be too generic among science type applicants at top schools. And my biggest concern, I have no idea which topic that would fit into. There is no free topic anymore!
