Essay Length

My 500 word is 700, and each of the two 250s are around 350. The rest of the essays are the right lengths. Are these okay? I know this has been discussed before but I gotta know...

If you can't possibly cut it anymore without ruining the essay it will probably have to do...That's not to bad, I have 1 550, one 300, and one 500. Needless to say, that last one is taking awhile.

If you call admissions, they'll say they don't want essays to go more than 50 words above or below the limit. Obviously, they probably won't be able to tell the difference between 50 and 75 words if most of them are smaller ones like "the" "and" "a", etc. Just keep the length of it down so it doesn't appear to be long/filling up a page.

I'm getting so scared by these horror stories of huge essays (callthecops not that yours is a "horror story" but you are struggling with length). I'm applying to college next year and I guess I should put some time next summer to learn how to be concise :o

This is me, but when u submit ur essay online, isn't possible to have it display the word count? I mean, we are in the 21st century with advance technology. I'm sure having the essays with the "WORD COUNT" display be possible. I just odn't know if it's true or not...

mkchan....you can have a word count done on MS word just go to tools then word count. I wrote my essays in word, adjusted for count then pasted them on to the online app.

i think what mkchan meant was that the Princeton people can see the word count if you submit it online.

I think it would be really easy for them to do program their app to do that....however, I am doubtful that they do.
