Is the copy shown on CB really the one the marker saw? I can hardly make out my own writing....let alone those scorers....how was your guys'?...did anyone get a clear version?

yeah really! mine was terribly hard to read! no wonder i got a lower score than i wanted (among other reasons of course :))

What did u get, Jimbob1225?
How about those of u who got 11,12? Does the writing really affect our essay score?

I heard the writing may actually affect the score. So write neat!

miag, i got an 11 :/ I ended up with an 800 in writing and CR, but I felt like i deserved that 12. yes, im arrogant to say that, but...maybe one of the reasons I got an 11 was that no1 could read my essay? of course, there were probably other reasons too. i dont mean to say it had to have been flawless.

one of my good friends had the same issue, she also got a 1590 M+V on her SATs, and shes a marvelous writer, much better than I. She ended up with an 8 on the essay!! We were both shocked, this girl has won national writing contests and she's been in honors english since middle school. if you knew her, you too would be shocked.

i guess, the problem is that writing a national level dignified article in a month is quite different than writing a hasted essay in 25 minute~i guess the time is too unfair to really measure the test takers' writing competence~

my essay was really, really hard to read both times i took the sat1 and i got an 11 both times

I could read mine for the most part but there were times when I had no idea what I was trying to say until I thought about it for a second...those would be times when I had erased. Although it might appear that an erased word is gone, the scanner picks up on any marks pretty well so sometimes a line would appear messier as a result of that, I think.

I got a 12 and I can't read ANY of it. Maybe im bad at deciphering stuff, but I think the copy is really unclear. I can post a screenshot of a page if you want to see what im talking about. Im pretty sure they don't use that copy. If they do, then I got REALLY lucky.
BTW more evidence that it doesnt count is that i still got a 12 and even had to insert a sentence with an arrow. its pretty funny.

wow....12....jealous ;) But is it true that we are not allowed to insert sentence in our essay with an arrow?? I didn't know that and there were a bunch of arrows in my essay....

btw Sinewave, can u post your essay...I really wonder what a 12-essay looks like....

im pretty sure insertions are allowed. here is a link to the pages. After reading it over, I'm still not sure what the last sentence says...lol. if you can find out for me that would be appreciated. and be warned: i have bad handwriting!
replace X's with t's.

This is proof that handwriting does NOT matter! ;)

IMPORTANT Edits jsut done on page 2 url and pdf url.

i got a 12 on the essay but a 650 total for verbal....

mine can almost not be read online, so im assuming the graders had the original copy in front of them

Sinewave...from the photocopy, it looks like u wrote something outside the margin ....and the arrow at the end is cute....:)
so u raw score for writing is 68+12=80....what did get after conversion
