Essay question! Mac or Macalester

Hello!

I am finishing up my why mac essay now, and i was just wondering if it would be inappropriate to refer to the school as "mac" and not macalester throughout the essay. it doesn't to me (in fact it sounds better), but i was just wondering if admissions people have an opinion on the subject...

do you think it matters?

thanks.

If I remember correctly, 'Mac' was used in the essay question? It's a very common acronym, I used it a few times in my essay. But no, it shouldn't matter.

i used both, i think mac sounds like you've developed an attachment to the school which is why i used it

I agree it shows familiarity, much like those liking Colgate call it the Gate. However, I do think it should be capitalized.

I used both. Macalester at the beginning and Mac when it seemed evident I really loved the school and talked about it so much I needed to give it a shorter name.

Great, thank you for your replies! That was exactly what I planned on doing.
