I'm a sophomore and plan on writing the rough draft of my essay soon. i have a few choices to chose from. should i write about:

-suffering from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and how it affects my daily life (i dont want to sound like a complainer or gross the admin out)
-having albinism and how it makes me unique
-how summer camp for 7 years has made me the person i am today

The first one I wouldn’t do. You don’t know who’s grading your essay, and I feel like enough people would be awkward or feel weird reading an essay about IBS that’s it’s not worth it. Then again, these people must get hundreds of essays with more outlandish topics. But you shouldn’t account my opinion for too much here. I don’t know much about what’s the norm for essays; what’s appropriate and what’s not.

The second one sounds cool to me. I’d just try really hard not to focus on the physical aspect, but rather on your psychology and how you overcame adversity.

The third one is eh. If you did it I think you’d have to focus on one particular experience, a turning point; a reflection on all 7 years could turn into too much of a drawn out summary.

Yeah, I was leaning towards the second one but I haven’t done anything differently in my life because of having albinism so I’m not sure what I’d write.
