Essay topic dilema - which one should I write about?

<p>Hey guys, I need a little advice here. For the personal essay on the Common App (for the topic of my choice), I have 2 ideas right now:</p>

<li><p>Write about my passion for visual art and an experience that made me realize my art’s impact on others.</p></li>
<li><p>Write about my passion for science and my childhood dream of becoming a scientist, and an experience that made me realize that it’s actually possible.</p></li>
</ol>

<p>I have drafts for both essays, and I think the first one is the better one. HOWEVER, I am also submitting a portfolio and a rec letter from my art teacher, so that already demonstrates my ability (maybe not so much passion) for art. So maybe it’s better to go with the second one, to show that I’m multifacetted? My teacher recs are from my AP Biology and honours English teachers, if that helps anything. </p>

<p>I'd say go with the one that seems better to you. Would the recommendation from your AP Biology teacher cover your science side? Those who are good at both art and science aren't very common. If you have good grades in both areas on your transcript, that alone would be enough to demonstrate that you're well-rounded.</p>

<p>OR</p>

<p>Can you keep working on the science essay until it's as good as the art essay? It's early, so you have plenty of time to play around.</p>
