So I want to write for the prompt about something a problem you want to solve. like all people i want my essay to be rlly good?? is it okay to write about race and the discrimination faced bc of it? im a latina and wanted about the discrimation i felt as a girl wantign to pursue tech and want girls to feel empowered and how i did this girls who code and how that empowered me?? but i dont know if thats something i actually want to do because im sorta undecided on what i want to do?? is writing about this something cliche??
just do it
It is cliche, but it is also true. If you can’t come up with something better, than you should do it.
You should probably find a different topic.
I think race can be a ticking time bomb for the common app. One, they will have heard it before, and two, unless you are an exceptional writer, it is difficult to pull off that type of potentially inflammatory essay without running the risk of sounding indignant, bitter, etc… I don’t recommend it. Stick with your girls who code experience. Much better. And don’t try to attempt to sound like a bteer writer than you are,be yourself.
HOW are you going to solve this problem? Just pointing out the obvious won’t make for a very compelling essay; you’re got to find a way to get all the bigots out there to see the light.
Not going to happen! So, instead, I would imagine your essay will come off with a sort of a “poor me” kind of tone.
Nope, I would absolutely find a different topic.
But I would do it really, really soon. The Common App went live on August 1st–4 months ago!!
In my high school, ALL applications were due in before Thanksgiving.
And, please, PLEASE work on your sentence structure, and the rest of the basics.
I think the best thing about writing college essays is how easy they can be. Since most students will write really boring and cliche essays, if you can be a little bit imaginative, you can write an essay that will stand out.
I think the best way to write a college essay is to: have a personable tone, and to connect two unconnected events in a well-written and grammatically sound way which reveals who YOU are, and in turn what you can bring to humanity as a result through your education. The most desirable students are the ones who will revolutionize whatever field they choose.
So yes find a different topic.
