Essay Topic

I had an idea for an essay topic for the common application and was hoping that I could get some feedback on it. Here it is:

Write a letter to your future self. In the letter, include where you hope to be at this time and what goals you hope to have accomplished.

Any advice/criticism is appreciated. Thanks!

I think that would be a really interesting topic to read.

Thanks! As a transfer student with a decent yet relatively low GPA (3.4,) I know my essay will make or break me.

If you took this approach, the essay must still imo somehow also show how you are now. Since you are applying to colleges now/soon, colleges will be interested to know what you are like now.

Therefore, it would be a mistake imo to submit an essay that mainly says what you are going to be, what you are going to think, what you are going to do, but little about what you are, think and do now. Remember, in other words, that talk is cheap.

Here fyi is a useful link from UVa about writing college essays.
