Hi, I have just finished my junior year of high school, and I have decided to be proactive and avoid prcrastination by writing my college app essays (I'm only applying to UCs and Cal States); these are my topics:

Veganism
100 lbs weight loss
My hair (I'm african American)
My grim background (I have moved about ten times, very dangerous neighborhoods, apartments filled with cockroaches etc [See? It's grim. And I still suffer through it.])
Being bullied
My poetry and/or novel writing
My father's absence in my life due to him being in prison (I think this is too raw and may scare them (lol))

To be honest these all seem very clich

They’re only cliche if you write them that way. (For any topic, write about what you’ve experienced, not what you think the typical experience is or any grandiose life lessons you think they want to hear about.)
The point (I haven’t seen the prompts, though) is to show part of yourself and make yourself look appealing (you shouldn’t brag, but you shouldn’t make yourself appear pitiful or anything like that).

Thanks! I’ll try (hope I can do it lol) the prompts:
1.Describe the world you come from for example, your family, community or school and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

2.Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?
