Essays on Influential Person

i have had my teacher profread my essay and the essay seems to not focus on me

and i kinda also feel like that too..

what are the best ways to approach the most influential person essay?

Thanks.

This essay should be about how this person has impacted or influenced you and/or your reflections about this person. Even though the essay’s about another person, it needs to tell the college a lot about you.

Do you feel like you’ve changed (maybe it was subconscious) because of this person’s relationship to you? Maybe some things you think about were put into a completely new perspective because of this person.

Or better yet, does this person highlight or bring out personality traits in yourself that you never knew?

Ok thanks to everyone!

I have some more questions if you do not mind:

1) Should I put in some personal examples of my traits?
–if i do, then wouldn’t this be telling a completely different aspect of essay that can be used in an essay itself?

2) Do i directly talk about how this INFLUENCe will help me in college and careers??
—or dont talk about it at all since i have mentioned my college, majors, careers in a supplement essay.

3) Just curious, how do colleges really use the essay? a breaking point??
—i will do my best

Thanks!

Answers to your questions

  1. I don’t think you talk about your traits. You show your traits by your response/reflections about this person, how s/he impacted you, what you did in response, how you changed…
It should be primarily about you. SHOW - don’t Tell is the rule.
2. In your reflection, you can say how “this INFLUENCe will help me in college and careers” but try not to overreach or it sounds cliche.
  3. This is what I think. If it’s very good, it can help. If it’s below average, it can hurt. If it’s good, it’s a wash.
