Essays questions(length and word processors)

For an approximately 250 word essay, will they be irked by 289 words? I'm not sure how strict Michigan is about their length "suggestions."

Also, it says to upload essays with the word processor of my choice. Is Microsoft Word 2007 okay? I'm just wondering how they open the documents when they're being submitted in a bunch of different file formats.

289 is fine. I think each of mine were over 300.

When you go to apply there is some place were you paste the essays in and it formats it all for you. Just copy and paste.

I used Word 2007 and had no problems uploading my essays. I went a little over on a few of mine too, I wouldn’t be too concerned. When you view your completed application online, your essays show right up there like it’s all one document. I imagine that’s how the admissions folks get the info.

This is a really dumb question, but I might as well ask since I’m kinda obsessed about my apps.

How did you guys space your essays? I’m used to always double spacing, but maybe they prefer single, or 1.5 spacing?

oO Thanks Oo

There is some system where you can just paste the text and it formats it exactly how they want it for you.

I agonized over that too, and recently I looked back at my essays and realized I double spaced some of them and single spaced others. Whoops!

Lol, and did you guys write your name, date of birth, college you’re applying to, and the entire question text on every single page of each essay? I’m not sure if they want that info on each page of each essay, or just the first page of each essay.

If they ask for that I would go ahead and put it on the first page of each essay and my name in the header of the others (perhaps with page numbers?), no harm in it even if it might turn out to have been a bit silly. My transfer app didn’t ask for that so it just had my name and the prompt on the first page of each one. If you are filling out the online app it’s not as if the pages ought to get mixed up.
