Situation here: my son is a juior at ASU and will return for his senior year. We are California residents. My son had part time jobs and summer internships the past couple years in Arizona and other states but not in California. He filed his own tax and we did not claim him as our dependent. California state income tax is very high. The question is can he establish himself as an Arizona residence since Arizona is where he lives most of the time in the past three years. Is it easy to do? This is not for claiming in-state tuition but rather for paying Arizona state income tax instead of California state income tax. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
