Ethnicity

Hey all,

I am a Chinese American student contemplating applying to transfer to some elite schools. Do you think it would be to my disadvantage to list my ethnicity under that section of the Common Application? As in, should I just leave it blank? Or does affirmative action not really play a role in Transfer Admissions, since it wouldn't be reflected in the new class profile anyways.

Thanks!

Oh, and just as a note, I honestly do not mean to offend anyone on this board, but it is indeed often true that a higher bar is raised for Asian American students in admissions (freshman, at least).

Jhon

Well I don’t think it would hurt putting down your ethnicity, atleast you have a minority status…Not so sure I agree with the last part of your statement though.

Students who mark “other” have higher admissions rates than White/Asian students with similar stats.

If you are Americanized anyway and your essays don’t reflect a strong sense of culture, why bother?
