ETS accused me of cheating!

The best thing to do is to take the test again to prove them that you are scoring on that range. Take the next test that is coming. You will waste time arguing with them.

Anyone else have any feedback as to arguments I could provide, evidence they’ve seen out of winning cases, or anything to help me in general to win this appeal. I’m trying to avoid taking it again because I’m loaded with school work that’s why I spent the entire summer in my room studying, so I wouldn’t have to do it during the year.

You will be offered the opportunity to retake the test. If you do as well the second time there will be no problem. If you prepared as much as you say then easy peasy.

Exactly. At some point, when it looks like cheating, the only way to figure out it was not cheating is have a retake under controlled conditions.

We have had many students who said up and down they didn’t cheat, and some didn’t, and some did.

An 800 on the SAT Math is more rare than you would think, especially the first time and especially with a huge discrepancy between the PSAT and SAT.

But what the heck were you doing when you got a 124 on the PSAT? That takes a LOT of poor work for someone who could “study their way” to a 2200. Is there something like a language barrier, or test anxiety?

You would have to both explain the 124 and the 2220, not just the 2220. Does that make sense?

It is not worth their time, so your best bet is to retake even if it is inconvenient for you. Remember that if someone cheated from you, you are considered a cheater. We have rules about covering your paper, and will take someone’s test away if they are not covering their paper.

This comes up here from time to time when someone has a big jump in scores. I don’t know that outcomes have been reported, but you can search the forum and see.

No I was sick during the 2013 psat as soon as I finished I had my mom sign me out, that’s why I did poor it’s not like I cared about it, how much time do they offer for me to wait to retake it is it like next week I have to retake it or do I get like 3 weeks to prepare?

I’m not worried about retaking the math, I’m more worried about the vocab I have to study more vocab and learn the writing rules. It’s not like I can’t do it again but I would just rather not because it would take more time out of my day to study. But if they give me like a few weeks to re-prepare (I haven’t opened an sat book since the day before the october test) I’d be fine

Which prep company did you use? I know some give you your practice test scores online. Perhaps you could show them the increasing trend in scores

Focused coaching it’s an intensive prep course here in NJ. I have all the tests with dates and scores shows my scores increase from a 1660-2120 over the summer and into the beginning of the school year

I knew someone who was one off bubbling in the answer sheet (put answer to question 5 in #4, 6 in #5, etc.). Their PSAT score was low because of that error. It seems very unfair to accuse you of cheating without any type of proof. A bit of advice – please post sensitive topics like this under a generic username (like mine!). I think I can guess your name and you never know who is reading these posts. Even though you are innocent there are always those who assume accused means guilty. Good luck to you!

With a 460 point increase, you’d be their poster child. Maybe you should contact them and see what assistance their experience can offer in this.

This comes up here from time to time when someone has a big jump in scores. I don’t know that outcomes have been reported, but you can search the forum and see. I think stick to facts. You guessed some of the math and you have independent evidence of scores achieved in your prep testing and submit that. Good luck.

Alright thanks, any other tips from anyone? It’s GREATLY APPRECIATED!

The only outcomes I’ve seen is that the College Board denies the appeal. The path of least resistance would be for you to retake the test.

Damn does anyone know how the timeframe they give me to study for the retake?

You really shouldn’t need much more time than a quick confidence-building review of the different testing areas.

Yeah, they also said that if I exceed the score that I earlier got they would keep my higher score, that’s why if I’m going to take it over im going to strive for a higher score

They will offer you the opportunity to take the test whenever you want. But if you are a senior, you must take the test as soon as possible.

I’m a junior so I’m alright thanks for the help

I’m a junior so I’ll be able to take it when I feel ready?
