Eureka! Why didn't I "discover" these products sooner?!

Has anyone used the Air Fryer that they keep advertising on the infomercials? I’m intrigued if it does what it claims to do. Sorry if someone has already mentioned it!

My friend bought a Phillips Air Fryer recently. I have only made egg rolls and fries in it. The unit is quite large and the basket quite small. It is not as good as a deep fried item, but it is saving calories of course and it gives some crispness but nothing like deep frying. I would probably not buy this if I had tried it first. It does take a longish time to cook small batches. I would stick to just ‘oven frying’ to save calories in future, which is basically the same thing but you can put more in at once.

Thanks for the review @BrownParent. I should learn my lesson about watching those infomercials

@comeonpeeps, I have a fat separator similar to this one from Williams Sonoma:

It works well, but might be a bit tedious if you are working with large volumes.

I thought of this thread when I walked into a store today called “as seen on TV.” They had an egg thingy, but it was 24.99. I have no idea if it’s the one that generated so much discussion here.
They had some kind of weight thing you are supposed to shake, and it claims to be like lifting a 60 (or 65) pound barbell. Any experience with that? It was 24.99. I was tempted to buy it, but I had several packages, and didn’t want to carry any more. Maybe it will be cheaper after Christmas.

Was the carousel turning? Sometimes the glass tray can be off the center thingy and won’t turn.

Were the eggs the same size? from the same box?>>>>>>

Yes and yes and yes.
The last time I used it, the eggs peeled nicely to about 1/6th to the end then couldn’t continue easily to save me so ended up braaking it off the rest of the egg thereby wasting the cooked eggwhite that was in that end tip. Crazy, I know, after so many raves about this product. Someone else mentioned bringing the eggs to room temperature before??? WTH? LOL, there is nothing in the directions about that.

OMG, is that the shake weight that Ellen DeGeneres has made fun of so many times on her show!? Hilarious! Go t youtube and search “Ellen Shake Weight” - you can watch video after video where she brings it out!

I always look for online reviews, the ones where many, many folks have rated and commented. The more good ones, the more I trust a product. I read the bad ones, too. So here ya go: http://www.amazon.com/Shake-Weight-Dumbell/dp/B00JKPN31Y And I usually check pricing on Amazon or WalMart, etc.

I always slip a teaspoon between the shell and egg, rather than peel with my fingers. The curve of the spoon works nicely around the curve of the egg.

That’s it! Clearly I don’t watch much TV. I’ll check out the videos.

Not exactly a product, but I adore good a cappella and I don’t know how I haven’t discovered Pentatonix until now. Their arrangements of the Christmas classics are so fresh and really complex, and just gorgeous to listen to:

They completely shred one of the most difficult Christmas songs:

And a song I’ve never actually heard sung before:

Eggs went into the fridge when I went to work one day and took them out of the fridge to eat them at work the next day.

@LVKris, that looks like a good option for separating fat for stock so I’m going to give it a try. Thanks so much for the suggestion.

I wonder if some who are having trouble with the egg-thingy have “colder spots” in their fridges. My fridge has a couple of areas that freeze foods (unintentionally), so I have to be careful not to put certain things there.

If someone were to put their eggs in an area that has a colder spot, then that might cause an uneven result like @VaBluebird had.

I keep my eggs in the egg bin in the door of the fridge.

Guess who just bought the microwave egg maker? :-h <:-P

Glad someone posted cuz I wanted to say my egg thingy is still a charm. Made only two eggs the other day, just reduced the time a bit, and voila! Hope you like it, cake.

^I gave my son our “old” one after he liked it so much when he was home for the holidays. My new one came last week and is back in business!

@LasMa, I am a huge Pentatonix fan. I saw them originally on The Sing Off. Their performances there are available on YouTube. (If you haven’t already done so, you MUST view their performance of “Let’s Get It On.” It will slay you.) The runners-up were a group from my S’s college, starring a guy from our area: the Dartmouth Aires. They were charming and a lot of fun–and Michael definitely should have a career in music–but the Pentatonix were just in another class altogether. A friend gave me their Christmas CD for Christmas.

I mastered the hard boiled version but not a nice soft boiled. Oh well.

@Consolation, I looked up Pentatonix and wow! They are fantastic.
