I’ve noticed with warmer weather that my tap water isn’t as icy cold as in winter so I’ve had to reduce the microwave time by 10 seconds in the thing-that-shall-not-be-named so that the inside isn’t solid when I have it warm on toast after peeling.
I really like mine. And my Keurig.
After lots of googling about this over the years, and finding tips about older eggs and baking soda, this really does make the biggest difference for me.
love this thread so bumping it… Did anyone discover any new great items???
Charles Viancin silicone bowl toppers to use instead of plastic wrap. They form a vacuum seal on the rim of the bowl. Cute too because they are made to look like flowers. Bit pricey but very convenient especially if you have a specific size bowl you use constantly. Also makes little ones as drink covers which I use for condiment bowls.
Presto makes a multi-cooker and steamer which is the perfect size for two people. It frys too!
I especially love it to do noodles in rather than doing them on the stove. It heats up the water very fast and since it has a straining basket with it you can just lift them out when done and don’t need a collander (I break my spaghetti noodles in half so they fit in the pot).
Old item but worked well.
Daughter had eczema as a infant. Got a water softener for the house, used expensive creams and lotions but nothing worked. Read Prevention magazine and they recommended using natural oils, we used Almond oil, right after bathing. Worked like a charm and the woman who watched our girls at child care ask what we had used. She had noticed the improvement in my daughters skin and wanted to recommend it to other parents.
One of mine had eczema as a baby on her fingers, and put them in her mouth a lot so I would just put olive oil on it.
^ Many pediatricians recommend olive oil on babies after bath. Just be careful and not use too much because you don’t want baby slipping out of your hands. Work it in, very small amounts.
probably could put some in bath water and then when drying baby, some remains.
@dadoftwingirls - did your daughter develop food allergies later? I’m just curious because mine did and infant eczema is apparently a predictor of that.
One of mine had bad eczema as a baby and still does occasionally. Luckily, no food allergies at all.
Things I found worked for helping keep it at bay were Aveeno lotion with the oatmeal and goat’s milk soap. When it got bad though, only the prescription strength cortisone cream worked. We used that only as a last resort.
It’s a day of watching Olympics and using Baby Foot (one footie for 2 hours, then switch it to the other foot for 2 hours).
Reviving this thread because I just ordered some parmesan whisps that I first discovered at costco. Major yum! http://cellowhisps.com/ Pure cheese. Nothing else. Hi protein, low cal.
Also finally found a steamer that is big enough for a head of cauliflower ( My old one is cracking and replacments I bought either weren’t deep enough or had something sticking up the center http://www.homedepot.com/p/Whirlpool-Universal-Microwave-Steamer-8205262RB/202204734
and I am looking at one of these that is supposed to keep fresh spices fresh. Anyone have either one of these ?

Those look great! Just don’t put basil in the fridge, I just put the ends in a glass of water and leave it on the counter. Let us know how the herb keepers work.
I got a deal at Salvation Army today. I’ve been thinking of getting my Mom a Rollator transport chair and today I found a rollator for just $12. I looked it up on Amazon and it sells for $99 there. I’ve been wheeling it around the house and it’s a lot like a shopping cart and the seats pretty comfy. If nothing else, she can just use it when she visits up here.
Bought this item and tested it on a pair of leopard Louboutins that were just a notch too narrow for my feet. Boom. It worked!

I haven’t bought the herb keeper yet. Fortunately I currently get the basil off a plant on my deck!
@greenwitch my daughter had eczema as an infant and yes, she has had food allergies over the years.
I finally “discovered” Uber.
Love it.
Under the category, “Why didn’t they make these sooner?”
S’mores girl scout cookies. Seems like a no brainer idea that should have happened a long time ago. I know I’ll try them.
