Eureka! Why didn't I "discover" these products sooner?!

Oh, dos, I followed the link to the GS site, put in my zip, and it says, “Only 129 Days Until Girl Scout Cookie Season!” :frowning:

@lookingforward Your wait is shorter than mine. I got 143 days! Ours is always right after the holidays which I never understood. It’s usually when folks are trying to shed holiday related weight gain and starting New Year’s resolutions. Seems like a poor marketing strategy to start on January 2nd.

Ours used to be in Jan, when D was a GS. Now it’s later in the year, which makes MUCH more sense, to me.

Actually, how would the girls stand outside in mid-December, up here? I always remembered spring sales, no?

That’s the other thing that never made sense to me. In the few years my daughter did Brownies, schlepping around in sub-zero, snowy weather to sell cookies didn’t make sense. I’m actually a seller on the whole GS cookie thing. I could rant on it for awhile but the short version is they are overpriced and the troops only get a tiny percentage of the money raised.

Yes, they are WAY overpriced and the troops and girls only get a minuscule portion. I sometimes just give them a cash donation instead of buying a box–troop gets 100% of that!

This thread is adorable.

(I’m a lurking rising senior.)

Welcome, @coterie! You don’t have to just lurk.

I don’t know how adorable all those (should I say it?) egg cooker thingie posts were.

Haha the dreaded gadget that I did not fall for!

To me the scouts could get rid of everything but thin mints.

I bought a Turbie Twist microfiber towel for my thick, curly/frizzy hair. It’s pretty cool- just bend over and load all wet hair into it, twist and secure through a little elastic loop. My main compliment is that it stays in place and my hair is less frizzy than when I use a towel. I really like it and have been using it for a few months now.

My recent discovery: Coconut oil.

Rub it through your hair for an amazing smell and texture.

Ponds Wet Cleansing Wipes for removing make-up. I cannot belive how much I love them.

In my circle of friends, I was one of the last to get an InstaPot electric pressure cooker. For cooking hard boiled eggs and rice (staples at our house), it’s so convenient.

I know many people love their Roomba. If you need some good belly laughs today, read this:

@Midwest67 , I love the Ponds wipes as well. Even better is getting the Costco brand for much less!

I like the Burt’s Bees wipes, gentle. But in general, I always like to have Pond’s cream around (though I moved up in the skin world to pricier stuff, which I like.)

I also have something like the Turbie towel (flat, like a hand towel) and it’s definitely faster than a usual towel. Look for when they go on sale at CVS.

These are the best facial wipes. My favorite are the cucumber, and the green tea with chamomile. I get them for $1 a pack at Dollar tree.

I know I mentioned this before awhile back but it bears repeating. AWESOME cleaner at the Dollar Tree Store. $1 and a good stiff brush will clean your grout like new. Better than the $800 quoted by the carpet company. Took me 90 minutes. It doesn’t work on the old grout from 30 years ago though…won’t clean my bathroom. But we tiled our kitchen 15 years ago and it goes from bridge to black because of the blacktop brought in from the driveway. It’s back to beige now

Girl scouts make a ton off of cookies. Back in the olden days, when they were $2 box, the split was roughly $.25 for the troop, $.25 for the council $.50 for the national, and $1 for the cookie company. The troop didn’t get the money until March and we had trouble spending it by May. I sure it is a similar split now.

Now the individual girls can earn money for camp. My daughter was a counselor last summer and one girl attended something like 6 of 8 camp weeks because she had so many cookie credits.

I know we have a separate thread, but my new Instapot is changing our cooking a lot. So easy and fun to try new things. Don’t know why I shied away before, maybe I just was waiting for the programmable ones.

A Vitamix changed my life. #embracethecult

. Ouch. Back in the olden days?? Back in THE olden days, when I sold GS cookies, they were $0.40/box.
