Kevin63138....look at post #12

You people underestimate how hard it is to run a company and be president. If most of you were president or head of an oil company, im sure bush would make you look like complete morons.

Their grades dont matter - if they had a 4.0 that just means they studied their butts off and had no life.

Here is a score converter for interested persons. Rounding their verbal scores to 570 for Bush and 630 for Gore, we can then convert to modern day scores of:

Gore
Math: 730
Verbal: 690

Bush
Math: 640
Verbal: 640

Not the best scores, but at least it's a little less egregious.

Eh. I'm not gonna defend those scores, but SATs were probably less of a big deal back then (and not as many prep courses & books). And their parents had fame and money, so why bother retaking when they were guaranteed admission anyway?

lol, unless you've been a president of the united states, that comment stands with no value.

(the ones about bush being an idiot)

I morosely chuckled at Gore's

D IN NATURAL SCIENCES!!!!!!!
An inconvenient truth we must all face, no?

Ahahaha, an Inconvenient Truth indeed.

But an A in Environmental Studies. And besides, Natural Sciences is pretty broad in scope... but this is all moot - he is doing a great job promoting public awareness about global warming.

It was funny that Bush got an A in Japanese. Honestly, could you imagine him speaking Japanese?

It doesn't specify what kind of Japanese course it was though... could've been literature for all we know. (Which is still a stretch for the imagination, true)

OP: Good point, old news though! As everyone said, old SAT scores were sub-standardized. Plus both these candidates were the scions of wealthy families. Gore, Bush, Kerry, etc. I would imagine this year's candidate with highest SAT scores would be:

Mitt Romney (though his dad was an ex-Senator and businessman, Mitt did graduate first in his class at BYU, got into Stanford though he transfered, and went to HLS/HBS)

I'm not sure about Obama. Not including Hilary because she seems like an intelligent person but not necessarily the best test taker (i.e. her Bar Exam performance). OK, I'm open to shots now, I'll take them gracefully :)
