Harvard really trained Obama well.

Knew how to handle himself well.

Yes. I noticed

hes definitely smarter than McCain

i thought he was also more humble then mccain..mccain seemed almost cocky about his experience and about how Obama "doesn't understand", he made a fool of himself(well, to me at least)

correlation does not imply causation

^Thank you.

Because the college you went to defines the type of person you are....

This should be someone's yearbook quote. It has so many practical applications.

Addressing the original statement, I use a candidate's college to help gauge their intelligence. Obviously it is not perfect, but when they went to school, admissions were way less competitive than they are now (i.e. less smart people are relegated to less prestigious schools.) Considering Obama's clear intellect versus Sarah Palin's, and their respective alma mater, I think the method is useful to get a rough idea of someone's mental capacity. However, attributing someone's debate performance completely to their college education is a stretch. It helps, but is not the only the reason.

Yale really trained Bush well.

Yale AND Harvard really, really trained Bush well.

^ Oh yeah... forgot about that... lol.

But there's no denying that the...factors surrounding Bush's admission were not quite the same as those surrounding Obama's.

^
True fact.

GO OBAMA! :)

Exactly, Bush was a legacy whereas Obama was a URM.
Two great evils, balancing themselves out =P

^ Lol .

You are aware of Bush's alma mater don't you?

Besides, tier 1 college admissions goes far beyond sheer intelligence. It rides on things that have nothing at all to do with your intelligence (for the most part) like extracurriculars.

Bush got Cs, Obama became president of the Harvard Law Review. While their circumstances may have been in some ways similar because they were given priority in admission, what they did once they got into their respective Ivy League schools tells a much better story about their intelligence.

Plus, giving URMs an advantage in admission makes a whole lot more sense than giving one to legacies.

bush also had a daddy BIG in politics - even at that time.

Never knew obama went to Harvard. I was going to say "what" to the topic, but learned something new so...

I worry that Obama has been academically trained to behave "me first' and "the ends justify the means". I expect him to continue the exploitation of Americans like his fellow corrupt Harvard buddies have: President Bush, Beranke (Fed Chairman), Paulson (Sec of Treasury), Cox (SEC Chairman), Raines (Fannie Mae CEO), etc. How could so many failures get so powerful?
