I think you have a very strong weighted GPA, assuming your school goes on a 4.0 scale, gives .5 extra credit for honors classes, and 1 full extra credit for IB and AP. Also assuming that your school doesn't give "partial" GPA credit like mine, where a B+ is different from a B-.

You have good SAT scores for UF, but they can definitely be stronger. They shouldn't completely block your chance of going though, especially considering your GPA. I wonder though why you didn't take Biology earlier in high school. What other sciences did you take? How many years of Spanish have you taken? Why is your class rank lower than what is usually seen for such a high GPA? These can also impact the decision.

This can change if I knew a bit more, but I think you have a good chance of getting in, but so does everyone else. UF admissions have become seemingly random recently, with students getting in with statistics across the board. Good luck!

My school doesn't given partial GPA credit (too bad because most of my Bs were B+), but 1 full extra credit for the IB courses.

Class rank is 1898 out of 11083 across all of Hillsborough county.
Took chemistry, biology, and physics freshman and sophmore years.
Biology junior and senior years.
Four years of Spanish.

I'm concerned about my SAT scores - retook the SAT yesterday so I am hoping to have a better result

I don't quite get it. You took Biology for two years? Were these different levels, or the same course? Did you retake? You also took physics over the course of two years? Please explain.

Having four years of Spanish though is excellent, and a huge plus. Great job! I am not sure why though your county does class rank based on the whole county population. If it isn't too late, make sure with your guidance counselor that a note of this is made on your transcript, or on a note with your application. Without it, UF may believe that it is based on rank in your school.

I wouldn't worry too much about your SAT scores, just so you know. However, doing better can only improve your admissions chances, so good luck!

I think you have a good chance... With less NMFs interested in applying now, the selectivity is likely to go down..I agree, do not worry too much about SAT scores, it is the whole package what counts..Good Luck !

I'm not an adcom... but you have good solid SATs and an exceptional GPA. The IB designation is impressive too, as is your leadership.

The pluses and minuses thing isn't always such a good thing- my kids figured an A is an A, so they never aspired to get above a 90 in much of anything.
:( Selective multi-tasking?

Anyway, founding a club with over 80 members is a very impressive statement. You sound like the kind of student UF wants and needs- someone who will be a real contributor to campus life. I hope you get in, because UF could use people like you; I'm saying this as a mom of two UF students. If you don't get accepted, they're losing out.

wouldnt the fact that PH is interested in architecture as a major help her gain acceptance? that is since it is a less popular major than say -- business? i would think that they do take major selection into account -----even if the adcoms say they dont..in fact i know several crafty parents who used the selection of a major as a way to get their kids in to top collleges (ie duke) only to have the student switch major as soon as they entered freshman class..even without architecture as a major i think PH has strong stats..good luck to you!!

P&H,
You tell us you are at an IB school, but you don't say whether you are a diploma candidate or not. At our local IB school, if you were a diploma candidate in years past then you were a sure bet for UF with those scores/grades.
