Evening programs "on the road"

Is it helpful to attend Princeton's evening program (information session) when it comes to town? We're on the west coast and won't be visiting Princeton unless my D gets accepted. She's a junior this year so we're starting the college list, and Princeton is one of her reaches. They're coming to our city in a couple of weeks and we're wondering what the program consists of, and if Princeton notices demonstrated interest from applicants. Thanks.

Nobody has been to one of these sessions? C’mon, spill if you know anything!

We didn’t attend one of princeton’s road shows but we did for a couple of other Ivy’s. I would suggest that you go since you can’t visit. Try to end up talking to the rep and get all you questions answered. I doubt that they care about interest but just in case it is worth the time.

They don’t care about demonstrated interest.

It is important to establish a relationship with your geographically assigned admissions rep who will be at your college night. I recommend arriving early. There are often tables set up in the hall with the reps and brochures. Your student can introduce herself, chat, and put herself on the rep’s radar. (Parents stay back!) She can follow up with an email or note afterwards.

After the presentations, the reps are mobbed, often by somewhat obnoxious parents and so it is difficult for students to meet them then.

fauve, we went recently and found your assessment to be true about the crowd during and after the presentation. I wish we had arrived early, but D’s schedule prevented. The information was good, though. D and I felt the effort of going proved worthwhile.
