Everyone's SATs so High

Is it just this site, or is the average SAT score around 2100-2350? And the average PSAT index 201-230?

It’s just this site, don’t worry about it. This site is mostly made up of super smart kids.

The average PSAT score is in the low 140’s; the average SAT score is around 1500.

High scores are hugely over-represented here.

Well I think you would expect higher than average SATs on a forum devoted specifically to that test…
Honestly I’m getting sick of seeing all the insecure people rant about the “average” person on CC being above average. If you want to see true average, look at your own high school!

It’s just this site. I was just looking at the College Board website and at least at my high school, the average SAT is ~1480. The NYS average is slightly lower, and the national average slightly higher. Don’t worry too much.

yeah this site always makes me feel bad about myself…

That’s what I’ve been trying to find out…

Haah! But my school’s average is in the 1900s… it’s a public school, yet it’s second in the state on sat averages beating all but one massachusetts prep school… What gives?

^ You Americans collect SAT scores from students also?

^ You mean how do they determine the averages? College Board sends a copy of each student’s scores to his or her high school.

hahahaha that’s so true. I always feel stupid when I go on this site. It also motivates me to try harder, though. I would say most of those kids with 2100+ scores are in the 97th percentile at least, in the country.

2100 is approximately the 96.5th percentile.

way to promote the stereotype silverturtle
Yeah, there is definitely a minority here…but we/kids like us are probably going to make up the majority of ivy admissions, in my own naive opinion.
It shows that we’re actually willing to spend time looking for how to get in, for one thing.

haha…so true…I wish I fit into that category…I religiously visit collegconfidential and try to implement some of the advice (good advice)
