EXAM Questions (SATs, ACTS, MCATs).

which program do and which ones don't require mcats?

i kno rpi/amc doesn't.

BU and PSU require the MCAT.

Brown and University of Rochester do not. GWU doesn't, but it does require a min.100 hours of community service each year of the undergrad.

im sure somebodys already asked this, but im taking the 9/24 ACT and theres up to a 7 week period for them to mail out test scores, and 7 weeks after the test date some of the straight programs already have application deadlines. am i just wrong about this or do you have to do something to get your scores there on time?

drexel requires mcats

The schools would most likely look at the new SAT as a different entity (2400 scale). Before, most of them required SAT II Writing in addition to a math and science test, but now that a writing section has been consolidated into the new SAT, schools will no longer require the SAT II Writing test.

Bottom line: schools will definitely evaluate the new writing section, not just math (m) or critical reading ("v").

Also, don't take heed to the fact that many school websites only discuss the old SAT. The reason is that they are awaiting this year's applicants who are the last class to use the old SAT. After this year's application period is over, the schools will likely alter their requirements.

What filabusta said lol

Ya but phew you guys had me worried there, i thought you said how medical SCHOOLS look at your SAT.

I read that they usually dont look at your SAT scores so i got worried lol but then i saw programs and everything was peachy keen again :)

See, the first thing you probably saw on this thread was the title: "how med PROGRAMS will evaluate new SAT." The title is most likely indicative of what the thread will be about. Cheers!

Hi I'm a junior in high school and I was wondering which SAT II's to take (and when) ? I'm asking this question here because I want to apply to these programs and was wondering which ones they require Thanks for the help!

well, im not sure exactly what specific schools require, but i know that the wise choices to take are chem, math IIc, and biology for these programs

Northwestern HPME requires chem, mathIIC, and reading

I'd suggest to concentrate on chem, math IIc
If you want to show off more (and can do it) maybe take lit or US history or something of the sort.

The question is not "are they?" but "which ones?" and more importantly "which ones for you?"

Thanks for the help so general consenus: I should take chem, bio, and math IIc with one or two additional SAT II's in the English or social studies area but when should I do these because I'm taking the PSAT in oct. and the SAT I in december (retake in march, if necessary) and 3 AP's in May

i'm sure they'll look at the writing sections but i think the standards will only be about math and verbal.

take them in May, that's when I took mine...that way, your memory's still fresh from studying for the APs, and you've completed a whole year's worth of material.

yeah i don't think they will care about writing more than as an sat ii score.

oh, i was wrong, HPME only requires mathIIc and Chem...however, i took the reading one as well, just to show a different side and give the adcoms a more complete picture

yaaa i never took the SAT II's. Im kickin myself now cause if i knew about these programs freshman year and i definatly wouldnt be in this situation now :(

eh oh well 4 year pre-med HERE I COME! ahaha

filabusta, how bout for the class of 2006? Are most taking both the new and old?
