Hey guys!

I was just wondering if there are any opportunities for undergraduates at Rice to exercise without having to pay extra. When I checked out the Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center, it stated that students at Rice had to pay $45 for the fall semester.

Is there exercise equipment (i.e. treadmills) anywhere else on campus? Are there any activities offered that are free of charge ...im gonna be just another broke college student.

Once you are a student at Rice you have to pay a student services fee along with your tuition, room and board, and this gives you access to the rec center.

Access to the Rec Center is included in your tuition as an undergraduate.

Certain colleges also have small gyms, if you are looking for something near your room. As others say, the rec center is part of your tuition/fees.

I’d like to point out really quickly that $45 for a semester’s worth of gym access is an incredible steal. The Gold’s Gym I went to in high school was $65 a month, and that was the student discount fee. And the rec center is very, very nice with free classes, two pools, etc.
