very passionate ppl here ;)

yeah, I agree with TomTheCat and italianboarder on dorms... Exeter's dorms looked so cold and unfriendly! Andover's dorms were better but SPS has the BEST dorms :)

Chaote had amazing dorms, at least the brand new 10th grade dorms. :) I think a lot of people have heard me babble on about them enough, but let me just say that they will kick your buttocks.

If they will kick one's buttocks they very much sound like terrible dorms!!! ;-)

Deerfield has beautiful dorms, despite the fact that the vast majority of them are singles. They're so clean, orderly, and spacious! No to mention the fact that the buildings they are housed in are beautiful.

tomthecat, i do have a very wide imagination :] i expected it the library to be like, very, very big.hahaha :)
i guess after i visited emma willard school, all the other schools just seem, umm, 'not cool enough' for me.hahaha(:

Emma Willard has the nicest campus by far in my opinion it looks SO NICE ! Like a castle ! Its harry potter to real life ratio is 100% !

LOL, I bet the kids at Emma Willard are cool with their 65 percentile SSATs and 50% acceptance rate ;-)

I don't really know all that much about Emma Willard though since I'm a guy and they're an all-girls school

prezomar - oh yeah! i thought so too! it's like HOGWARTS.hahaha :]
and you'll totally feel like a princess, because it's like living inside a castle. the only problem is that some girls are really snobby xD well most of them are very friendly and nice :]

i love emma willard soooooooo much!it's my number one choice so far:)

tomthecat - psh.lol.yea, that's another problem. but emma willard is still number 26 in the list :)
and the 65th SSAT percentile is good for me, since i did badly on the vocabulary part [don't have my results yet.]

and not a lot of people apply to emma willard, compared to exeter or andover.hahaha:]
whOot.this could be a good debate.

grrr.i don't want to back to school tomorrow. xD

asiankid,

emma willard is a shoe-in for you, i think cause ive seen your stats. great school. not a lot of financial aid, if you need it. everyone on this board from last year said that they wanted to go but wasnt offered enough financial aid so they went to other schools that offered

I'm just gonna shoot a 'GO EXETER!' out there.

YAY! GO EXETER! We are E-X,E-T,E-R! You ain't B-E,T-T,E-R!

(cause when we do our exeter thing andover does the better thing. so not true. not a dig at emma willard. =] )

lol courtney

Saer, what did you see in the dorms at Choate? They were the worst in my opinion. Double at Choate=single at Deerfield.
2 Doubles at Choate=Double at Exeter
I didn't like Andover's dorms as much as I liked Exeter's. More spacious.
Best dorms=Groton, then Hotchkiss, then St. Paul's

The 10th grade dorms are brand new this year. I didn't see the freshman dorms, which I am sure what most of you are comparing. They might have been crap, really, but I don't care- I won't be living there!

As for dorms, you probably only saw one room or dorm building on your tours. At some schools, they can be quite varied, even within one grade and gender. At Andover for example, there are some small doubles, singles, three-room doubles, etc., all for 9th grade girls. So, you may or may not have seen a complete representation of your potential living conditions.

pinkheart, my son really liked the dorms at Groton too. It's funny because a lot of kids seem to think they're weird and it really turns them off. Wait....I am assuming that you're speaking of the lower school dorms with the 3/4 walls. My son liked them because they give you privacy without isolation. He said it reminded him of camp and our tour guide said that he misses them now that he's in the upper school "normal" dorms.

@asiankid, Emma Willard's campus is stunning! If you want to see it on film, the movie, The Emperor's Club" was shot there. It's not a recent movie but you could get in Netflix or something. But really, pictures do not do this school justice. It is beautiful.

I think that most of the single sex schools have lower stats. Not sure why. I know several girls at the school and they love it. It does have a high percentage of "local boarders" who often go home on the weekend as well as a good number of day students.

I've posted before that my daughter said that she could "almost" deal with all-girls just to be able to claim the architecture.

I think many of the single-sex schools have lower stats, because many of the applicants strongly prefer coed schools.

yeaaa i prefer coed. boyssssssssss

@neatburrito

i need to watch that movie!Yes, you're right. The pictures are nothing compared to the real thing...but my mom keeps asking me where i'll go if i get into both exeter and emma..

it's really hard because exeter has the best education, and i want that...
but i really am inlove with emma willar school!

@ senay

yeaa.i think i should add that to the reasons why i wanna go to exeter:)

4 year without boys if i go to emma willard.haha:)

can you do that? :]
