thanks!! @waterpololover i have another q: do the printers at exeter all have color ink?
@Anonymousia Most printers are black and white but there is a color printer on the main floor of the library.
@waterpololover thanks! but as a followup, (i know this is really picky and specific, but I have to regularly print out stuff with this type of printer) is the color printer a laser printer that can print at least 600 dpi?
I have no idea, but it might say under IT on the exeter website.
Are there any dances at Exeter that I could invite friends from home to?
EDIT: Changed ‘too’ to ‘to’
If you have a friend sleeping over for a weekend, I suppose that they could come to a dance on campus. At the senior prom, students are allowed to invite their date from anywhere. Other than that, they normally don’t check I.D.'s, so I bet that you could if you wanted to.
about the summer storage thing, is there a fee for that? Or is it just signing up?
Thanks again!
@Anonymousia Every student gets two large bins to store belongings in, without a fee or signup. The bins are kept in the basement of your dorm. Most students cannot fit all of their belongings into those bins, so the rest needs to be brought home in suitcases, shipped home, or stored at a friends house (that’s what I did). Some dorms allow international students (or any student if they ask) to keep more at school, but it depends on the amount of storage space available and the dorm head.
Thanks @waterpololover !
Followup q: but do they remind your parents either over the summer or when you come back to school whether or not you left something in the storage? What if you change dorms?
@Anonymousia During move in day for returning students, everyone goes downstairs to get their bins; it’s not something you would forget. I’m not sure what happens if you change dorms, but I imagine that either a faculty member or campus safety would help you transfer your bin to your new dorm.
Thanks in advance for answers to these course schedule questions. I looked at the sample in the E Book but it’s difficult to understand. When are the extra curriculars, specifically athletic practices and music groups? Is it difficult to play an instrument and also play a varsity sport(s)? Does class go until 6 every evening?
Hi! I had a question about Exeter that I was hoping you could answer.
I’m still not quite sure about how sports work.
For example, I play ice hockey. If I’m not good enough to play varsity or junior varsity, then are there thirds or will I not be able to play?
Thanks for answering!
@rulerMA did you request to stay on the waitlist? Sometimes the schools have two Jvs for sports you should look into it
@MAandMEmom clubs meet at various points throughout the week. The most common time is 7-8 PM, but many clubs meet during dinner (6-7 PM), during lunch (12:50-1:30), and on the weekends. Classes do go until 6 PM every day, but the sports block is included in that schedule. For JV and Varsity athletes, competitions are on Wednesday and Saturdays (usually afternoons). If there is not a game/meet, then there is just practice. Music groups meet 6:45-8:15 twice a week (some Monday/Thursday, others on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Music lessons occur during the day during free formats or on Wednesday afternoons for those who don’t play sports. Many students do clubs, play Varsity sports, and do music, but it is a busy schedule. I did a music group my first year, but I quit so that I could have more time.
@rulerMA It depends on the sport. As far as I know, girls JV hockey and girls JV lacrosse are walk-on sports (so no cuts).
Is there any sort of horseback riding extracurricular activity offered?
When do you get your advisor?
What time (eg 8am-4pm?) on the first day of school is when your supposed to “check in”?
@Anonymousia if you were accepted you should have received the course book and other materials All of the sports electives are clearly outlined. These items should be very useful to you in answering some of these questions.
@Center You’ve responded to a lot of children’s questions in a similar way, and while I’m sure you have the best intentions, it’s not particularly helpful. We’ve all read the course of instruction until our eyes bled.
@Anonymousia I would say maybe to horseback riding because a lot of clubs that exist on campus aren’t on the school’s website. Maybe a current student will respond with a full answer, but even if there isn’t, perhaps it’s a club you can start. It doesn’t have a course number assigned to it in the COI, so I doubt it exists as an actual sport.
Pretty sure you’ll hear the information about the second two questions from the school after April 11th.
Thank you @waterpololover this is very helpful. Do you feel as though it’s s super long day? I read the sample week 1 and week 2 schedule in the E book and it seems like a crazy long day.
@junemaybees maybe you have read it until your eyes bled but many people ask questions that woukd lead one to believe they haven’t taken the time to look at the very comprehensive website, Ebook, or course book …
@MAandMEmom and @waterpololover yes that was extremely helpful.
