Hi, my daughter is anxiously waiting her decision from Cal Lutheran. There doesn’t seem to be any information on the Admissions website about when decisions are coming. I also looked at last year’s CC threads and I don’t see any posts about receiving admissions.

Does anyone know about when the decisions are released? And, whether they come by email or snail mail?

Hello again, Coralbrook! My son applied in early October, and rec’d via US mail an acceptance packet after Christmas. It was one of the last schools he heard from in the early rounds. That same letter had his merit scholarship info in it. There is a 2nd letter in the packet that gives you a CLU portal ID and password to set up a CLU email account.

Just finished an overnight visit for my daughter and parent session. Dir if Admissions told me decisions will come mid March. I had a chance to have a great discussion with Financial Aid Dir also.

My D was with 2 other prospective students that slept in the living area of Mt Clef. For some reason she didn’t really connect with the girls. She is more active and outgoing. She wanted to go to the Improv that was advertised so she connected to some kids in another dorm room. Dissapointed in the tour because they didn’t show the inside of anything, couldn’t get inside the library, any classroom buildings or the cafeteria. She never even had a chance to eat in the cafeteria because herhosts were sleeping or left for class. They arranged for everyone to sit in on a class, but my daughter refused to go.

The good things were a great small campus, and we finally saw students on campus. Our last visit was on Winter Break and it was a ghost town. The Admin Dept had arranged a meeting with the film professor and a tour of the facilities which she really liked.

I had a chance to sit next to the Financial Aid Dir at the parent breakfast. This was very beneficial for me because we have unusual circumstances. She said they prefer to have a phone conversation review before even filing an appeal. She invited me to make an appt. I was very happy because the attitude was so welcoming compared to some other schools I have been trying to work with.

Also, we were interested in whether they had a certain type if club for D and they didn’t have the answer but immediately ran around and asked and came back with a Yes!

I was very impressed with the warmth of the staff and caring attitude. And I explained to D that she will be able to find many friends like her at the school. Don’t judge on just 2 girls that were probably just scared and shy. The only problem I can see at this point is the strength of her major and it is really small, undergraduate population not much larger than her current high school.

The merit aid was wonderful for her stats. Have not received FA yet. But, as I said earlier, they are one of the few schools willing to discuss our issue that 2013 income will be Much Lower than 2012. I have a phone appt next Tuesday.

Cal Lutheran now tied for #1 in D’s decision although it sits at $10k more/ yr
