I was recently accepted into the WOW program at Williams and will be visiting in a week. From past years, about 90% of the people that were in this program and applied to the college were accepted, so I have a very good chance of getting in. This opened me up to an option that I had been thinking about before this. I have had trouble writing traditional essays and had an idea to write a more experimental essay for the common app and, now that I have just about finished my first draft, I’d like some feedback on if this is a good idea/essay.
So the idea is to write 5-6 moments of my life in short 100-150 word segments, starting at when I moved to the States from living overseas. They will be basically detailing how I came to accept life in the US and how I developed. The segments are written in book-like fashion and are in third-person to start off and end in first-person, getting more personal as they go.
I can PM this if a closer look would help, it’s difficult to get this right so some help would be appreciated. Is this a good idea? What are your thoughts? Thanks
