Explore Bowdoin November 2012

good luck!!!

Cookieis77 what part if the country are you from? I wonder if that has an effect on when decisions are released?

I am from Southern CA. I am not sure if that has anything to do with when the decisions are released. But I heard they received a lot of applications. I think you should definitely call the admissions office tomorrow and ask them whether or not they are still in the process of releasing decisions. Good luck!

Cookieis77 accepted! :)

congrats! Can’t wait to meet you!

I still haven’t heard! Ugh! But congrats to both of you.

@cookiese77

I told you so.

I was accepted too! I can’t wait to meet everyone.

Seniors13 and Cookieis77 can’t wait to meet you guys too! Do you know about how many people go to this program? Also, do we find out in advance the student we will be staying with?

I have no idea! :open_mouth: I know they had 56 people attending the September program and some of the hosts contacted the students they are hosting. I really wish we could talk to people who have attended the program before. We should probably ask the september people.

Cookieis77 yeah i agree! I really want to see if I can contact my host to see if I have to bring a sleeping bag, because that will be a nightmare to have to pack! hahah nonetheless, I am very excited! I got an email yesterday saying there will be 74 kids for this program!

Me too! In the email it says we should try to not check any bags on the plane. But if I am bring a sleeping bag, there’s pretty much no way I am going to fit at and everything else into just one carry-on. And I live in SoCal. So, you bet I will bring quite a few coats, jackets, etc…

btw, just got my itineraries. I have a 3-hour layover and won’t get there till 9 pm  I wish I lived on the east coast…

I just did a google search of Explore Bowdoin. What I came up with was this… very interesting…I just wanted to share with all of you who are headed to EB next month.

[Experience Weekend sets views for multi-cultural student life — The Bowdoin Orient](Experience Weekend sets views for multi-cultural student life — The Bowdoin Orient)

The article is only 2 years old. I wonder how pervasive these feelings are among the students…

NewHavenCTmom: Thanks! This is very interesting. But I am not sure how much of it is still true since they have a different director of multicultural recruitment now.

Ok, but just keep these things in mind when you are visiting… at least this article has exposed a layer of the onion that perspective students may not be able to see during the fanfare of EB…You will know what questions to ask and with whom to ask them!

Definitely! Thank you!

Cookieis77 I am from miami so I am bringing a lot of sweaters too! I really hope I don’t have to bring a sleeping bag, that will not fit in my tiny suitcase hahaha. Oh man, that’s late. I get in at 12:15! I heard that people will be arriving at all times of the day though, so don’t worry!

I get there at 5. But Im so worried about the packing thing… A sleeping bag, and tons of sweaters are not gonna fit into my carryon… But Im so excited for the program!

I am super excited about the program as well!! seniors13: where are you from?
