For those who are familiar with the UCI Campus, where do you park if you're going to the Explore UCI Event on Tuesday/Wednesday? The directions say to park in the "Mesa Parking Structure"....Where is that relative to the Bren Events Center and is there a "parking permit" dispenser of some sort since it says parking costs like $7.

For the Bren Events Center, the Mesa parking structure is relatively close. It is like right next to it, actually. When you drive into the structure, there should be a person collecting the money in exchange for the parking permit for the day or something like that.

My son is going to the Explore UCI/Explore Engineering program tomorrow.
Are parents welcome at these events? I won't go if other parents aren't going. I know he can handle this himself, and I certainly don't want to tag along if it is just for students.

For those of you have been already this week, what was the parent attendance like? Should I stay or should I go?

I saw a lot of parents on campus. I went with my parents when I did explore UCI. I believe explore UCI is just campus and housing tours. I'm not sure about the explore engineering program

i was late on rsvp-ing for explore uci, but i think i will be checking out the campus at a later date. i just recently decided to make UCI a possible choice. i would really appreciate it if after everyone gets back to kind of sum up their thoughts and such about uci.
thanks!

I went last week during my Spring break, and yeah, they had some guy collecting money at the parking structure, which is an easy walk to everything.

I'm going to a couple more UCs this week and next before deciding, and I have to take off from school, but so are other kids -- it's the only way we can do it, and our school is understanding about it.

I went to Explore UCI today. What a great program they put on for the students and parents! My mom and I went and it's very much tailored to BOTH students and parents. There's a program in the Bren Events Center from 9 am to 11 am. The Director of Admissions, Assistant Dean of Students, and a student all had great things to say in their speeches. After that they break you into groups depending on your major where they have information sessions on that major.

After that you're free to take a campus and housing tour if you haven't already done so. My friend and I decided to go around campus with a freshmen we knew from our high school and he took us through the dorms, to the ARC, and a class for an hour.

All in all it was a great day and I've pretty much made my decision to attend UCI.

As far as missing class goes, I think almost everyone was missing school. I rarely go to school anymore anyway. We're going to Cal Poly tomorrow so I'll miss another two days there, but it's not like we're doing anything in class anyway.

that sounds awesome. davis had a similar program and im kinda bummed i didnt get to see irvine in the same way. but im sure it would have blown me away. i mean they are all trying to recruit us haha
