Explore UCI

Anyone attending? Does anyone know what the schedule is? How long it's going to be?

what day is it anyways

I remember when I went two years ago..it was pouring rain the whole day.

I'm going on the 21st. It's from 9-12:30. That's all I know.

hey im going tommorow to the explore uci thing! did anyone go today? how was it? How come I didnt get any notification or directions after I preregister for the event? do i just show up?

i am going to "explore uci" thursday. i went to the "experience uci" for my intended major today though.

hey ripcurl how was the campus, the feeling and everything? I never been to uci, and i wonder how it is...

I went today at 8:30 a.m. The other days are April 12 at 11:30 a.m., April 13 at 8:30 a.m., April 20 at 8:30 a.m., April 21 at 8:30 a.m., and April 22 at 9:00 a.m. The length depends on how many tours you want to go on. I went on one (campus tour) and went home around 2.

pooball, you just show up at the Bren Events Center.

^directions :)

The campus is beautiful, in a modern way. And good god, the place is huge. Walking through the Arts and Humanities buildings to get from one flagpole to the other felt equivalent to walking the circumference of my high school three times. But I guess I should have expected that. :D

wow jess, thanks for the info. The campus sounds cool. Did u get to tour the dorms? thks!

No problem! And yeah, they had a seperate tour for the residence halls. I only saw Mesa Court... almost forgot about that. ;p It's known to be the "bigger" hall. The double room is decent-sized... about 8 of the tourists were able fit inside without feeling too crowded. Very fun environment, too. Sorry for the lack of details. I was only there for a second and didn't get a chance to explore. ;)

Hmm... I forgot which day I registered for. Not good. Anyone know where I should call to find out? :)

UCI's freaking huge. My mom and I walked around there (just walked, no stopping) for 3 hours and we only got through about half the campus. Now I have like 3 blisters on my feet. I saw inside the Middle Earth dorms and they were a good size too, but I think I like the Mesa Court ones better. It's pretty, I'm happier about going there now that I've seen most of the campus and talked to a few of the students, who were really nice. :)

I'm going on Thurs the 20th, maybe the 21st if i get down there late.

^i am going tomorrow (thursday too). will all the students be divided into their major or will every uci '10 be together.

At first everyone is in the same place, but then they split you up depending on what school you belong to.

^did u already go to explore uci?

I kindda ditched the Explore day thing and went on my own adventure... (YES! I posted this somewhere else already!) I drove around the entire campus today for like 35 minutes and I couldn't find the "park". I went to the KFC/Taco Bell at the center place thingee and something really funny happened. I remember someone posting on some site that the restaurant will never give u water. Well, I order a crunchwrap supreme and an individual coleslaw (i know... weird combination). I also asked for a cup of water (i totally forgot about the site) when ordering. They confirm my order including the water and I pulled up to get my food. I see the food guy talking on his cell phone like I don't exist. I get my food and I notice the water was missing. I tell the guy, "I asked for water..." and he (STILL TALKING ON THE CELL in SPANISH!) grabs a fork and hands it to me... I repeat that I asked for water and he finally notices i'm there and he thinks for like 30 seconds (still holding the cell to his ear) and he is like "umm... sorry we don't have any cups." Then it clicks that i've heard about this before so I tell the guy "this is b-s... how can u not have cups?" (after getting my food of course... see the movie "Waited" for reference) and i speed away. All of this on the first day of seeing the campus.... it's gonna be a long 4-5 years.

No, I didn't go to Explore UCI this year. I used to be one of the speakers at the opening, so if you went last year or the two years prior to that, you probably saw me speak.
