Expunged suspension

Hello! I’m an international student. I was suspended for one day at the end of my sophomore year. If the suspension has been expunged and my school told me that I do not have to mention it in any application process or any other official procedure with regards to my high school education, can I check the “no” box in the first question of the Common App disciplinary history? Thank you!

If the school made it clear that it is not on your official school records, then you can check the “no” box on the common app.

At my son’s high school, many cases of first time cheating were dealt with in this way. Students that collaborated on homework that was supposed to be worked on independently would receive a first time warning, a zero on the assignment, and a note signed by themselves, the teacher and principal that was part of their unofficial school records. If there were no further instances of cheating, then the unofficial record was destroyed after 4 years and the student did not have to report the incident on applications.

You didn’t indicate what the cause of your suspension was, but I assume it’s being handled the same way.

never mind, I should be fine. But I can’t believe it! My school just told me that there was a mistake in the process and that the disciplinary sanction was perpetrated to the wrong guy! That’s why they agreed to expunge it. I was punished for something I never did.

So thankfully they were eventually able to fix my records and transcripts and the ones of the other guy. I got a letter of apology and now it is exactly as if nothing ever happened. @Yomama12 thank you for your help anyways!!
