It has come to my attention that in the common app for penn, you can write a total of three page-long essays if you want. But in the penn-specific application you can write only two.

I realized this too late because I already sent in Part 1 of the penn specific application.

Say I wanted to send in an extra third essay because I have more to say. Would I mail it? E-mail it? Call them first?

Has anyone sent extra essays? Is it advisable?

you should call and ask the admissions office if this is possible. i dont think you will be able to do it since you already sent in the the penn specific applicaition :(

It shouldnt make any difference at all if you do the common app or penn app. I would think doing the common app and writing 3 essays instead of 2 would hurt your chances more than help because there is more room for error (like writing UPenn or Penn State). Also, one essay almost never changes you from an admit to a reject, especially a common app essay.

just to clarify... when you say don't write "UPenn" do you actually mean don't write "UPenn" or don't write "University of Pennsylvania?" I'm assuming it's the first, because I find it odd that admission officers wouldn't like that we refer to the university by its real name.

lol right. dont EVER mention the name of the school ur applying to ANYWHERE on ur app. you face immediate rejection if in violation of aforementioned rule.

thelui, its ok. it might irritate them for a sec but they wont spazz over the fact. just refer to it as penn from now on to ppl who kno wat ur talking about.
