when someone is deferred, he/she sends in extra stuff. i learnt this from this forum. do you all think other people (people who dont know about cc) also “know” or think about sending extra stuff to boost their chances? or do they not do anything.
also, i called my college to ask why i was deferred? are they going to note that negatively or positively

Yes...if you are deferred it is DEFINETELY a smart idea to send in supplementary materials that might help the adcons change their mind. Just because you are deferred does not meant that you are completely out of the running. The WORST thing to do is to do nothing about it.

If you called the college to ask why you were deferred, they wouldn't hold it against you or anything. In fact, it's good that you have continued contact with the admissions office b/c it signals your interest in the school.

Send in extra essays, graded writing samples with teacher's comments, photos, artwork, scrapbooks, an updated resume, etc. Also, have an interview with an adcon to show that you are serious about the school and truly want to go there for the next four years.

Best of luck with the "deferral reversal". :)

you didnt answer my question.... is it just us "ccers" who do this, or do u think your friends who dont use cc also consider doing this stuff

Sure, some of my peers who have not even heard of CC consider sending in extra materials in response to a deferral. For motivated people who are desperate about going to a certain school, it's the normal and expected thing to do.

People who are reasonably savvy about the admissions process will do this - cuts down on the competition right there.
