How likely is UCB to give an extra semester to engineering transfers who have only completed 1.5 years at a ccc? On a very related note, how likely are they to kick you out if you can't graduate in 2 years, but have good grades?

You should be ok if it takes you 2 1/2 - 3 years to graduate if your GPA is high. I doubt they will chastise you if you are working while in school (im guessing thats the reason you expect it to take longer).

I don’t intend to work (if possible) when/if I get to UCB. I ask because there are certain engineering courses that are only offered (for the most part) at Berkeley, which are taken in the first two years (fresh/soft)of study. If I have the right information, they are something like:

ENGIN 7 - 4
ENGIN 10 - 3
MEC ENG 40 - 3
MEC ENG C85 -3

After a student transfers, they have to take these classes along with those included in the normal 2 year curriculum. I believe that students usually get this done by using a portion of their CC time to take UCB’s general ed requirements, and filling those empty slots with these engg courses once they get to Berkeley. Since I’ll only be attending CC for 1.5 years, I don’t have that option, forcing me to take the normal curriculum + those classes.

I don’t feel at all confident with taking 18+ units a semester. I was wondering how likely it was that I get an extra semester at UCB to take those engg classes (Assuming I actually get in).

don’t worry, they will allow u to have one extra semester if u r a transfer student. but more than one, i don’t think so

i think they restrict units you can take after your allotted time so you won’t be able to take fun classes you wanted to take or ones you are interested in, just your major courses or whats absolutely necessary, so if you don’t like a professor and they teach a course for your major and its the only course you can take, you might be required to take it
