Hi all,
I was wondering if an extracurricular can hurt a person’s chances of being admitted into university. Should I list a youtube channel if it got copyrighted and is taken down? Will the copyright negatively effect me?

Was it a meme channel that got taken down by the EU’s new copyright policy? (jk) I think it depends on what the content was/why it was taken down.
I would not include it.
Unless you are the owner of the copyright, I wouldn’t include it. Unless legal action was taken against you by the copyright owner (the video was simply removed), no, I do not think it will affect your chances.
Update:
It was a sports channel that took the sport content and used it to make compilations. I did not own the content but only used a minute of each clip at a time. No legal action was taken against me. The youtube channel did get over 20,000 subscribers and a few million views. I also used the money from it to make my own business.
You’re being vague about who copyrighted what and who was infringing… but I’m guessing you were using material that was copyrighted by someone else, so you were the one infringing on their copyright and so YouTube removed your posting since it was illegally using someone else’s copyrighted material.
If that is what happened, then no - do not put that on your college application. No matter how much money you spent or how many subscribers you had, you were acting in a way that colleges will consider dishonest - similar to plagiarism. Not remotely what you want to show colleges as your story. It would be like saying that you only cheated a little bit in Biology, but look, I got an A! Doesn’t sound good, right?
